last of the Fair

Not too many livestock at this winter fair - these lama, alpaca and some cows and horses - nice to have some - they had a junior stock show on Friday were the kids could show their animals - getting ready for the fair in the summer.

This lady is spinning the alpacas wool into yarn - there were some pretty thing to purchase - we didn't!  We have our sweaters from Polly gave us and they are too warm for most days here!!

Just thought I'd add this poster - so you can see which kind of cows you want to purchase at the next livestock auction!! Every Tuesdays in Lewistown!!

Quilts and crafts

The Art Center had a quilt show - I thought they were so beautiful and represented so much work!  only one was hand stitched - all the rest were machine stitched - so pretty!  Dad isn't bad either!! Loves to wear his Dam Jam hat - gets comments on it all the time.
Across the street from the Art Center was the Eagles Club - and a fiddler contest - this little girl was pretty good!  We only watched for a bit - came back and saw some older folks - really good fiddlers!
More of the pretty quilts - the last one pictured was my favorite - and apparently one of the judges also noting the ribbon!

Snowmobile Races

It was a beautiful day, on Saturday - temp around 53!  they had snowmobile drag races about 50 yards down a snow packed track - fun to watch.

This little dog with a leach made out of a cattle rope made us laugh - must be a tough dog - or that's all the rope the man could find.
Dad said:  If Stan and Kurt and Sam lived here - they would be doing this!

More Winter Fair

Here's the logo for the Winter Fair - events were held at the Fairgrounds and down town at various places.  It was fun for a Saturday to go around and participate in as many as we could.  No cost for most - made it even better!
This event made me want some of my grand kids here - a Stick Horse Rodeo!!  I think the age limit was 8 or 9 - cute little ones and cute horses!
Huge tractor - Dad said there are bigger ones - the log machine takes the log in at the front and - you can see at the back, the split firewood ready for the wood stove!

Central Montana Winter Fair

This weekend was the Central Montana Winter Fair - 66th year!!  Someone said it used to be held in Bozeman, don't know about that but it was a fun Saturday for us.
These are 'stock' dogs working - they would herd the cows all around the ring - this one didn't even have
to be yelled at - his master would just gesture with his arm and the dog knew what to do and did it!

pretty impressive - we don't know who won the competition - of course Dad didn't want to stay that long - we saw two dogs and the first one was the better of the two by far!

February Decorations

When Julie and Stan helped us move in - we laughed about the 'meat hooks' above the fireplace -  - but they have come in real handy in using our seasonal decorations!  I love the Joy to the World plaque that Kacey made for us a few years ago - I think I will leave it up all year around!
The little brown bear in the red hat and cape was in my Valentine's decorations - does it belong to any of you?  Do you want it?  Be glad to send it on to a loving home!!
This old Ford Truck is at Dad's work - I pick him up now at the back of the building ... I love this truck!  they still use it for runs into town - about a 1950-1952 Dad says - good old truck...Rackety Boom type.
We walked around the neighborhood Saturday morning and coming around the corner of the hospital we found this pretty sight!  This doe and twin fawns have been around the neighborhood since we moved in November 1st.

Bald Eagle

On the drive back from Billlings on Saturday we saw this huge bald eagle eating on a dead deer carces at the side of the road - when we stopped to take the picture, it flew up to the fence post - beautiful!

Snow in the road

This is our snow removal system - push it to the middle of the road - then bring a back hoe and load a truck.
I'm not sure where they dump it but it is pretty funny how the piles get bigger in the middle of the road  - - sometimes you can't see if another car is coming it is too high!  this is looking down Main Street.
Looking up Main Street - Middle School on the right side.
Kids playing on the pile of snow in the Albertson's parking lot!!

Billings Temple

We stayed in Billings on Friday night and went to the Temple Saturday morning - for two sessions.  It was wonderful - we will plan on doing that at least once a month this year, if we can.

Newspapers

Just in case you don't think we live in the Wild West - here is a mustang making a run for freedom - - after jumping over the fence!!
Love the fact that Miss Montana has overcome her disability - plus wears a modest dress!
This eagle is recovering now - thought it's wing was broken, but it was just twisted.
Here's Miss Montana again - I think this picture shows how pretty she is.
Love it when Dillon is in the news!!  Just thought I'd share some of the news from up in these parts!!

Deer Feeder

Here are the deer in our front yard - attacking the bird feeder.

They would stand on their hind legs and knock it with their front legs - they kept at it until all the bird seed was gone - on on the ground where they could reach it easier.

Montana scenery

On Saturday we drove up a canyon to the Fish Hatchery - this is the caretakers house.
If you look close you can see three deer on the left side of the river - pretty!
This was the sunrise the other day - the whole sky was pink - beautiful!

New Snowfall

It has been snowing for two days and the wind blowing - I shovel weekdays and Dad on the weekend!
See the wind drifts in our back yard?  I love looking out my bedroom window and seeing this snow covered pine tree - grouse and other little birds take shelter in it.
Our paper person brings the newspaper to the front door - those are the tracks in the snow.
Isn't this a cute man shoveling snow?

High School Chorus Dinner

Friday evening the Fergus High School Chorus dept. held a pulled pork dinner .. to raise money for their trip to Chicago later in the spring.  We wanted to support them, and I always enjoy dinner out - so we went.
All through out the dinner they had the high school kids perform musical numbers, this young lady was good.
This is their Swing Group - made me remember Polly's in Junior High School in Wisconsin...they were really good - sang an original song without musical accompaniment - we enjoyed it while eating.
