New Year's Day Hike

New Year's morning from our back yard - so pretty.
This is a map of the Native American tribes that lived in Montana... I guess still do to some extent!
First Peoples Buffalo Jump - First Day Hike - this young buffalo from the herd at Yellowstone.
Us at the top of the 'jump.  There were 14 tribes that used this - it is the largest in the country - more than a mile long on two sides and then another side about 3/4's a mile - U shaped.
The ranger giving us information about the jump - he teased that we were all afraid of the rattlesnakes that are there in the summer time - we wanted to come in the snow to avoid them - some truth to that!
