More First Day Hike

Here is our group hiking up to the top of the 'jump'.
The Buffalo Jump is in the background - our ranger is explaining the bones and arrow heads and 'blood kettles' that are under the snow.  We want to come back in the summer and see them plus teepee rings, etc.
The Park Center is in the background - about three miles away - it was colder on top, the wind was blowing.
The Indians placed small stacks of stones to drive the buffalo where they wanted them to go - some daring young men would then lead the stampede over the cliff!  yikes!
Tribes can come at any time in the park and build their lodges for ceremonies - it is a sacred place for them.
